The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports that Jessica Chastain is in talks with Ubisoft Motion Pictures to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the big screen adaptation of the video game Tom Clancy’s The Division.
The video game is a third-person shooter set in a dystopian New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The player is an Agent of the Strategic Homeland Division and is tasked with helping to rebuild the Division’s operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake.
Back at the start of June it was reported that Jake Gyllenhaal signed up to star in The Division and also will be on board to Produce alongside Ubisoft’s Gerard Guillemot. The studio is packaging the project before taking it to studios. Ubisoft Motion Pictures currently is working on post-production for Assassin’s Creed at Fox and then there’s the Splinter Cell film at Paramount starring Tom Hardy still in the works.
If Chastain agrees to their terms and joins The Division alongside Gyllenhaal, I’ll definitely be more intrigued to see how this project grows and I’m sure a few of the big studios will pay even more attention it.
