Media outlets are today reporting that Paramount and Bad Robot have come out and announced their plans for Star Trek 4, which also sees the return of Chris Hemsworth as Captain Kirk’s father.
The official logline for Star Trek 4 is as follows:
In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.
The news comes as Star Trek Beyond is set to hit cinemas this weekend. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will write the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will serve as Producers through Bad Robot, while David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance will serve as Executive Producers. With the announcement no director is yet attached to the project.
It’s certainly big news for Star Trek fans, particularly of the rebooted franchise as Chris Hemsworth will reprise the role of George Kirk when he starred in the 2009 Star Trek reboot. J.J Abrams broke the news just before the weekend to Access Hollywood’s Scott Mantz and now you can see his announcement and Mantz’s reaction below.
