Deadline exclusively reports that Woody Harrelson is in talks to star in Rob Reiner’s Iraq War film Shock and Awe.
If Harrelson signs up officially, it’ll be a reunion between him, director Rob Reiner and writer Joey Hartstone, as the trio recently worked on film LBJ, which follows the story of former U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson from his young days in West Texas to the White House.
Shock and Awe focuses on a group of journalists who asked the tough questions about Saddam Hussein’s alleged weapons of mass destruction, the official reason given by the Bush administration for the invasion of Iraq. Reiner has been attempting to develop Shock and Awe over the last several years now but the film is finally shceduled to begin production sometime this year after the film got financial backing from Savvy Media Holdings and Acacia Filmed Entertainment. Rob Reiner will also serve as a producer alongside Matthew George and Michele Reiner.
