The synopsis for Anthropoid is as follows:
Anthropoid is based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the World War II mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich. The Reich’s third in command after Hitler and Himmler, Heydrich was the main architect behind the Final Solution and the leader of occupying Nazi forces in Czechoslovakia whose reign of terror prompted Allied soldiers to hatch a top-secret mission that would change the face of Europe forever.
It was in March of last year that it was announced that Anthropoid had Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan cast in the lead roles, with the U.S. distribution rights being secured by Bleecker Street from LD Entertainment at Cannes last month. The film also stars Harry Lloyd, Toby Jones, Charlotte Le Bon, Bill Milner, Sam Keeley, Mish Boyko, Sean Mahon and Brian Caspe. The film is directed by Sean Ellis, who co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Frewin. The trailer itself is intriguing enough, though I’m sure a few will ask why they could’ve hire Czech actors for the role but then would it be getting it’s cinematic screening, especially in the US, without the pairing of Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan? I’m just hoping we don’t have this years Child 44 on are hands here.
Anthropoid is scheduled for cinematic release on the 12th August 2016.
