Helen Mirren has revealed in an interview with Elle that she is set to appear in the upcoming film Fast 8.
During the interview Helen Mirren said:
I want to be making film and theater, but film is particularly relevant. I like it to be serious. Of course, having said that I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8. But that’s for the fun of it. So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies.
When quizzed to confirm that she will be appearing in Fast 8 she says ‘Yes, I am’. This will come as an interesting yet somewhat inevitable development as way back in March 2015, Helen Mirren was talking with Yahoo! Movies and she said the following:
My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast and Furious 8. I have to say Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart — I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving. I’d also love to do another Red-type movie, because those are such fun to do.
Talking with MTV News in September 2015 whilst talking about The Last Witch Hunter, the subject of his co-stars joining in future Fast and Furious instalments came up with Vin Diesel saying:
I think everyone should do the franchise. They’ve gotta get in line behind Helen Mirren. She is on the list. Be careful what you wish for, Helen.
Mirren’s role is yet to be revealed, but she will be joining a cast that includes regulars Vin Diesel, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson, as well as Charlize Theron, Kristofer Hivju and Scott Eastwood.
Fast 8 is scheduled for cinematic release on the 14th April 2017.
