Variety reports that Andie MacDowell is the latest name to be joining the ensemble of Lionsgate and Black Label Media’s firefighter film Granite Mountain.
The film is set to follow Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of firefighters that faced one of the deadliest wildfires in history back in the summer of 2013, the Yarnell Hill Fire, in order to save an Arizona town, resulting in the tragic death of nineteen crew members. The film was originally titled No Exit but changed to Granite Mountain.
The report doesn’t state as to whom Andie MacDowell will be playing in the film but her credits include Groundhog Day, Sex, Lies and Videotape and most recently Magic Mike XXL. Joseph Kosinski is set to direct, with Kev Nolan developing the story and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Erik Howsam, Jeremy Steckler of Conde Nast Entertainment, Dawn Ostroff, Mike Menchel, Black Label Media’s Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill serving as Producers. MacDowell will be joining a cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch, Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, James Badge Dale, Alex Russell, Ben Hardy and Jennifer Connelly.
There’s no cinematic release announced as of yet for the film.
