Deadline exclusively reports that Eva Longoria is in the final stages of negotiations to star alongside Jack Whitehall in BBC Two’s miniseries adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s Decline and Fall.
Decline and Fall is a social satire tale set in 1920’s Wales, following the life and times of hapless Paul Pennyfeather who is sent down from Oxford after a wild, drunken party and finds himself qualifying for the position of schoolmaster at a boys’ private school in Wales. There he meets the delectable Margot Beste-Chetwynde, the wealthy, powerful and beautiful South American woman who becomes the object of his affections. Jack Whitehall will be playing the role of Paul and if Longoria signs up to star in the miniseries, she will be cast in the Margot role.
James Wood is adapting Evelyn Waugh’s novel into the three-part miniseries, with Guillem Morales attached to direct and Anne Baxter, Ben Cavey and Will Gould are serving as Producers for Cave Bear and Tiger Aspect. Principal photography is set to begin in the middle of July for seven weeks in Wales.
Jack Whitehall’s credits include Bad Education, Fresh Meat and more recently Mother’s Day, while Eva Longoria’s credits include Desperate Housewives, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and more recently Telenovela.
