Deadline and Variety have reported that Vanessa Williams, Sterling Knight, Brittany Curran, Carlos Knight, and Akemi Look have been cast in The Man From Earth: Holocene, a sequel to 2007 film The Man From Earth.
The synopsis for the original Man From Earth film is as follows:
An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he has a longer and stranger past than they can imagine.
David Lee Smith is returning as John Oldman, a man who has lived for milenia and always moves along from place to place after ten years in order to hide his secret. William Katt is also returning for the sequel and currently the storyline for Holocene is being kept under wraps. Richard Schenkman is returning to direct with shooting starting next week in Southern California.
Director Richard Schenkman said:
People have been asking for this since the first movie became a viral phenomenon. Over the years, I’ve spent time developing this property with the ultimate goal of creating a long-form series. I’ve had a lot of help from a number of really talented people, and stunning support from fans all over the world. It’s been a long road, but now that we’re about to start shooting, I could not be more excited.
The original film is actually a pretty decent film which is very talkative and yet you’re engrossed watching it. As for a sequel to come out a decade later? I’m not too keen on it but I’ll still check it out.
