The Good Wife may be over but The Hollywood Reporter reports that CBS All Access is in negotiations for a straight-to-series order for a spinoff focusing on Christine Baranski’s character Diane Lockhart.
The Good Wife creators, Robert and Michelle King, are reportedly in negotiations to write and executive producer the first episode but will not serve as showrunners for the potential spinoff series. It also states that Cush Jumbo’s character Lucca Quinn, brought in for the seventh and final season of the show, is expected to be joining Baranski for the spinoff. What’s more surprising about this news is that if given a series order, it will appear on CBS’s All Access digital subscription service, which will make it the second highest profile show to appear on the service after Star Trek.
The news somewhat comes as a shock as I figured that anything to do in association with The Good Wife would’ve been done by now and since the show came to and end I expected it to be over completely, but Baranski’s Diane Lockhart is a good character and it will be interesting to see how a show centred around her will work in comparison.
