Black Panther: Lupita Nyong’o in Talks To Star

Film News - Black Panther - Lupita Nyong'o In Talks To StarThe Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports that Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is in negotiations to star opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel’s Black Panther.

After writing and directing Creed, Ryan Coogler is writing and directing Black Panther, where T’Challa was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and audiences around the world recently in Captain America: Civil War. T’Challa is the warrior king of Wakanda, Marvel’s fictional African nation that is rich in an unbreakable alloy called vibranium. The Reporter goes on to state that though the character has not been indicated as to who Nyong’o could be playing but does state that it is to play the love interest.

If she does sign on for a role in Black Panther I wonder what this means for her role in DreamWorks film Intelligent Life which just lost its director Ava DuVernay recently (who at one point was in talks to direct Black Panther) but it will definitely be a coup for Marvel to bring her into the MCU. Question is will they bringing back Florence Kasumba for Black Panther? She had a ten second scene, with one line in Captain America: Civil War and made an instant impression on me but I’m wondering whether she will appear again or not depending on how big her role is in Wonder Woman.

Black Panther is scheduled for cinematic release on the 16th February 2018.
