Assassin’s Creed: First Trailer Drops Online

Film News - Assassins Creed - First Trailer Drops OnlineEarlier this morning the first trailer for the much anticipated film adaptation of the popular video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed, was released online by 20th Century Fox.

The official synopsis for Assassin’s Creed is as follows:

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

It looks like we might finally have a really good video game to film adaptation on are hands here. The Macbeth reunion between the key players (director Justin Kurzel, cinematographer Adam Arkapaw and actors Michael Fassbander and Marion Cotillard) looks set to transition perfectly into this world that’s being setup cinematically for Assassin’s Creed, with some intriguing action set pieces and hand-to-hand combat. Like many online, I’m not that keen on the use of Kanye West’s ‘I Am A God’ to compliment the trailer footage. The rest of the cast of Assassin’s Creed includes Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Kenneth Williams and Ariane Labed.

Assassin’s Creed is set for cinematic release on the 21st December 2016.
