Reports are coming out this morning that Hail Caesar actor Alden Ehrenreich has landed the role of Han Solo in Disney’s stand-alone Star Wars film.
After an exhaustive search which has lasted for months, it was allegedly narrowed down to a few actors last month (including Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor) and Ehrenreich was suggested to being the front runner and now the 26-year-old is in final negotiations with the studio which now seems a question of when he’ll sign rather than if.
The standalone Han Solo film, expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story in order to distinguish it from the Episode saga, is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Well I’ve only seen one of Ehrenreich’s role and that was in Hail Caesar this year and I thought he was good in the film, different shoes to fill covering the iconic role portrayed by Han Solo, but so far in terms of casting for their Star Wars films recently, I’ll have faith in this decision. Now it becomes a question of what story of Solo’s life will they be looking to tell prior to his appearance on screen in Star Wars: A New Hope?
The Han Solo Star Wars Story film is scheduled for cinematic release on the 25th May 2018.
