The Mummy: Russell Crowe In Talks For Role

Film News - The Mummy - Russell Crowe In Talks For RoleDeadline exclusively reports that Russell Crowe in in talks to have a role in Universal Pictures’ classic monster universe in The Mummy.


The report continues by stating that Crowe is believed to be in early discussions for a Dr. Jekyll-type role and there’s no confirmation as to whether or not a potential spinoff is on the cards after his appearance on The Mummy.


Plot details are vague at the minute, but we do know that Alex Kurtzmann is on board to direct what is set to be the first in a series of monster films planned to come out under the Universal banner and set up its own cinematic universe for the studio. The storyline is set in the modern day where we follow a special forces soldier paired up with an archaeologist taking on the villainous Mummy.


If Crowe does sign for the role, he will be joining a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari and Courtney B. Vance.


The Mummy is scheduled for cinematic release on the 9th June 2017.
