Variety exclusively reports that Vikings star Katheryn Winnick is the latest to join the cast Sony’s big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.
The films synopsis is being kept under wraps at the moment but we know that the first book in The Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger, has already been adapted by Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner in which the book focuses on Roland Deschain aka ‘The Gunslinger’ and his relationship with his young protege Jake Chambers. Serving as Producers alongside Akiva Goldsman is Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Erica Huggins, with Jeff Pinkner serving as Executive Producer and the film is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel.
Winnick, known for her role as Lagertha in History’s Vikings, has signed up for a mysterious role which will have us wondering who she could possibly play and considering the way casting and characters have been announced so far I have no clue on predicting who she could play. Katheryn Winnick will be joining a cast that includes Idris Elba (Roland Deschain), Matthew McConaughey (Man In Black), Abbey Lee (believed to be Tirana), Tom Taylor (Jake Chambers), Jackie Earle Haley and Fran Kranz (Pimli).
The Dark Tower is set for cinematic release on the 13th January 2017.
