Variety exclusively reports that The Boy screenwriter Stacey Menear has been hired by Warner Bros. to pen the script for a remake of Dennis The Menace.
Currently there is no director or actors attached to the project yet, though Gil Netter is on board as a producer. Dennis The Menace originally began as a comic strip in 1951 created by Hank Ketcham, which would spawn off into a 1959 sitcom as well as a 1993 live-action film starring Mason Gamble and Walter Matthau.
I wasn’t a fan of the 1993 film growing up and I feel like I have no interest in seeing this being remade, even though it could do with being retold I guess. I hope however that Stacey Menear’s script will serve the story better than what The Boy did.
