The story is still being kept under wraps at this point, with the only detail being given out is that the sequel will take place several decades after the events of the 1982 original film directed by Ridley Scott.
In a statement from producers Broderick Johnson and Andre Kosove, they had this to say about Hoeks casting:
Sylvia is a radiant talent, a tremendous actress with great appeal in a wide variety of roles. Her addition to this vastly accomplished international cast is a perfect fit.
It’s unknown as to what role Hoeks will have in the sequel but her credits include working on European films/television shows such as Tirza, Bloedverwanten, Overspel, as well as appearing in Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Best Offer and will be appearing in upcoming films such as The Lake and Whatever. Sylvia Hoeks will joining a cast that includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista, with the film being directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The Blade Runner sequel is scheduled for cinematic release now on the 6th October 2017.
