The synopsis of Batman: The Killing Joke is as follows:
As Batman hunts for the escaped Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime attacks the Gordon family to prove a diabolical point mirroring his own fall into madness.
The animated feature will be the first R-Rated Batman film as they look to recreate scenes right out from the comic and visually it looks set to be just as dark as the graphic novel was when it was released in 1988. More importantly for those that grew up from Batman: The Animated Series right through to the current run of DC animated films, will be pleased to know that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will be reprising the roles of Batman and The Joker this (one last?) time for The Killing Joke and will be joined by Tara Strong and Ray Wise voice the roles of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and Commissioner James Gordon, both of whom will have a strong presence in the animated film and will be directed by Sam Liu and Bruce Timm will serve as producer.
I’m looking forward to seeing the film but the trailer not really does much for the storyline and the animation itself feels odd but I’m still stupidly excited to see this whenever it comes out over here. Batman: The Killing Joke is premiere at San Diego Comic-Con this year before being placed onto VOD later on.
