Deadline reports that David S. Goyer’s Superman prequel, Krypton, has been picked up for a pilot order on the SyFy network.
Damian Kindler will be serving as Showrunner/Executive Producer, with Colm McCarthy set to direct the pilot, with Kinder and Goyer doing rewrites on the original pilot that Goyer penned with Ian Goldberg. The prequel idea from Goyer has been in develop for almost a year-and-a-half with SyFy now giving it a pilot order in which Krypton is set two generations before its destruction in the opening of 2013’s Man of Steel, with the prequel following Kal-El/Clark Kent’s grandfather, whose House of El was shamed and ostracised, fight to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos.
The prequel of Krypton could be interesting as it had enough interesting ideas being shown in Man of Steel but it’s the fact will people buy into a world in which we know how it will all come to an end? Also it will come down to who they cast in the pilot.
