In an exclusive report, The Hollywood Reporter states that Willem Dafoe will be crossing the Marvel verse into the DC verse as he’s signed on for an as of yet unknown role in Justice League.
The report states that details of his character are being kept secret for now, though they believe he’ll be playing a good guy that will appear in both Justice League films. Production on Justice League began last week with Zack Snyder back in the directors chair after the whirlwind tour of promoting Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and will be working with a cast that also includes Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman), Ezra Miller (Barry Allen/The Flash), Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg) and J.K Simmons (Commissioner James Gordon).
Dafoe is no stranger to the comic film adaptations, appearing in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man as the Green Goblin, which makes recent casting/potential casting news announcements very interesting to read as Dafoe is set to join fellow Spider-Man co-star in a DC film while Michael Keaton potentially moving the opposite end to play a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s slightly weird but it’ll be interesting to see who Dafoe will play.
Justice League: Part One is scheduled for a cinematic release on the 17th November 2017.
