Deadline exclusively reported last night that Courtney B. Vance has joined the cast of Universal’s The Mummy.
Plot details are vague at the minute, but we do know that Alex Kurtzmann is on board to direct what is set to be the first in a series of monster films planned to come out under the Universal banner and set up its own cinematic universe for the studio. The storyline is set in the modern day where we follow a special forces soldier paired up with an archaeologist taking on the villainous Mummy.
Courtney B. Vance is joining the cast coming off an award worthy performance as Johnnie Cochran in FX’s American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson and will be joining a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson and Marwan Kenzari.
The Mummy is scheduled for cinematic release on the 9th June 2017.
