Fear The Walking Dead is the spinoff series of The Walking Dead that portrays the beginning events of the zombie apocalypse in the West coast during the same time frame when the city of Atlanta was falling under attack, while Rick was in a coma at the local hospital. It shows how the strain was already in full effect in the south while it’s just starting in California. The show’s third season will have a sixteen episode run which will air in 2017.
President of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, Charlie Collier said:
What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear The Walking Dead is to be applauded. Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world – it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride.
The series stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Mercedes Mason, Lorenzo James Hernie, Rubén Blades and Colman Domingo. I’ll admit that the first season of the spinoff felt too much of a missed opportunity for me in terms of how they could tell a different story in comparison to The Walking Dead yet it focused too much on us following a family of which we have a talented cast playing characters that I’m just not invested in, but granted the inclusions of Rubén Blades and Colman Domingo’s characters and the location of the second season has me interested enough to check it out and see where it goes.
