Last weekend we learned that Warner Bros. added two untitled films into the DC Film Universe slate and today the WB Chairman and CEO confirmed that the studio is moving forward with a Ben Affleck solo Batman film.
The Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara made the announcement at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of cinema operators in Las Vegas, talking about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice before confirming what we’ve been waiting to hear for quite some time:
It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020. I’m also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie.
Some media outlets like The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline are taking Tsujihara’s words to think that he meant that Affleck will be directing the solo Batman film while others like Collider are not sure if that’s what he meant but I’ll be 90% confident that Ben Affleck will be on directing duties as well as starring in the Batman film. It becomes a question of which of the untitled film slates is Batman now set for: 5th October 2018 or 1st November 2019? I reckon it will be the former.
