Arrow: Jimmy Akingbola As Baron Blitzkrieg In Season 4

TV News - Arrow - Jimmy Akingbola Signs Up For Recurring Role As Baron BlitzkriegComing from The Hollywood Reporter it appears that British actor Jimmy Akingbola will be joining CW’s Arrow for season 4 in a recurring role as Baron Reiter aka Baron Blitzkrieg.

Akingbola (Holby City) will be Oliver Queen’s adversary in the shows flashback scenes, though whether he will return to Star City in the present day timeline remains to be seen. In the DC Comic Universe Baron Blitzkrieg was originally a World War II German army officer who was blinded and disfigured when a concentration camp prisoner threw a bottle in his face, resulting in German scientists experimenting on him and giving him superhuman strength, invulnerability, optical energy beams and the ability to fly. Something tells me that they’ll change the origins of the character to keep it up to date with the Arrow universe.

Not only does Blitzkrieg become a leader of a crime group known as Shadowspire, he’s also allied with Vandal Savage’s organisation, will will appear as the main antagonist in the upcoming CW/DC series Legends of Tomorrow.

As for Jimmy Akingbola joining the expanding new cast members (Neal McDonough, Alexander Calvert and Echo Kellum) it’ll initially be weird at first seeing an actor from Holby City appearing the Arrow show, but hopefully it’ll be a good role for him and it will be interesting to see in what way they handle this character considering his comic origins.

Arrow Season 4 begins stateside in October 2015.
