The sequel to Independence Day has been expanding its ensemble as of late and last night Roland Emmerich once again taking to his twitter to make a casting announcement, this time adding Maika Monroe to the cast.
I have another addition to announce. The beautiful & talented Maika Monroe is officially signed on 2 the Independence Day Sequel!

Monroe will be joining with the new cast that includes Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Joey King, joining the returning cast that includes Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch. The film still has no official synopsis as of yet but it shouldn’t be too long for that to be revealed.
In terms of casting Monroe in terms of the newcomers on board, she’s definitely the one I’m most positive about as I thought she was really good in The Guest last year and heard she’s just as good in It Follows (didn’t get released locally here so I’ve missed out on that one). I’m still curious to the actual plot and what the film will look like, considering we’re almost a year away from cinematic release.
Independence Day 2 is set for a cinematic release in June 2016.
