Gotham: Main Cast Member Says They Will Not Be Returning In Season 2

TV News - Cast Member Says They Will Not Be Returning For Gothams Second SeasonRiteo, checking up and posting thoughts on news that has been out in the open recently, the first of which was a certain cast member of the TV Show Gotham has stated publicly that they won’t be returning for the second season of the show. That person in question is Jada Pinkett-Smith.

TV News - Jada-Pinkett Smith Not Returning To GothamWhilst on daytime show Live with Kelly & Michael last week, she said that “I signed for a year, and the year is up,” and then answered the question of whether she will be returning with “I don’t think so,” finally adding “But there are some great things coming ahead on Gotham, believe you me. There’s a lot of good stuff coming.”

According to Deadline, Gotham producers Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan not to hold their breath on her character returning to Fox’s Batman prequel next season.

While it has been often considered that Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Fish Mooney character (who has no roots in the DC Comics) would in some way not make it past the end of Season 1 considering the development of Oswald Cobblepot from petty thug to crime lord and being a central figure in the Maroni/Falcone crime war, though now she’s separated from that arc involving Dr. Dulmacher.

As far as Jada Pinkett-Smith not returning for the second season I’m indifferent on it for a few reasons, the main one obviously being that I’m finding it difficult to enjoy Gotham yet I manage to watch it just as a chore, which is a shame as I like the majority of the cast in it. Pinkett-Smith’s performance has had audiences divided but for me I just don’t like the character or find her interesting, nothing to do with Pinkett-Smith’s performance per-say, more about how the character (and others while I’m at it) is written. Who knows, Fish Mooney might not be killed off but left in a cliffhanger situation of is she dead or not without clarification which leaves the door open for her return.
