Universal Shuts Down Fast & Furious 7

Universal Shuts Down Fast 7

The inevitable news came out this week that Universal have gone ahead and shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 completely after the untimely death of Paul Walker.

Universal released a statement saying:

Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.

Production on Fast & Furious 7 was taking a Thanksgiving break whenever Paul Walker’s untimely death occurred in a car crash along with friend and business partner Roger Rodas last weekend. This news development comes as no surprise to anyone as the writers now try to come up with a way of how to work Paul Walker into the story or not at all (will go into more detail in the rambling section).

In a nice tribute from the studio have released a tribute video of the actor as well as stating that they will donate a portion of the sales of Fast & Furious 6 (or Furious 6, wherever you’re from) on Blu-Ray & DVD to Paul Walker’s charity Reach Out Worldwide, which works to heighten relief efforts and give local people hope after natural disasters.
